Writing The Paragraph


Hi Dr Rivera and my classmates! I hope everyone had a great weekend!

On Tuesday’s class we went back to the computer lab, and we discussed about "Writing the Paragraph". Following are some notes from that class.


Writing the Paragraph


  • Introductory

  • Development

  • Transitional

  • Concluding


Developmental paragraph contain 3 parts


  • Subject - what you will write about

  • Topic sentence - contains both the subject and the treatment

  • Support - evidence or reasoning by which a topic sentence is developed


Paragraph Unit - Arrangement of breaking paragraphs into parts and indent more than once in

developing a single idea


2 Basic Paragraph Patterns


  • Pattern A - Topic sentence / Support / Support / Support
  • Pattern B - Topic sentence / Support / Support / Support / Concluding sentence
